The Thomas Jefferson Foundation owns and operates Monticello which is the mountain top home of Thomas Jefferson. This museum was incorporated in 1923 and has steadily expanded its role as a museum as well as the educational institution. About half a million people visit Monticello per year. Some of the present programs include tours of Monticello, educational programs and even Thomas Jefferson center for historic plants.
