Tourist Guide Chesapeake
Chesapeake is an independent city in the state of Virginia, USA. Located on the Elizabeth River at the centre of the Hampton Roads region, it covers an area of 908.8 sq km and has a population of around 220,500.
Chesapeake was formed in 1963 by the merger of Norfolk County and the city of South Norfolk.
Chesapeake has a temperate climate. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 32°C to 21°C. Winters are cool with temperatures hovering around 7°C during the day and occasionally dropping below freezing point in the night. Spring and fall are mild and pleasant.
Chesapeake is a visual delight with beautiful parks, lakes and rivers, including part of the Atlantic Intercostals Waterway. The Chesapeake Bay is a great place to relax and indulge in outdoor recreational activities. Due to its proximity to many of Virginia’s attractions, the city is considered to be the perfect launch-point to Virginia.
