Tourist Guide Chincoteague Island:

Chincoteague Island is situated in Accomack County in Virginia, USA. Located on the Chincoteague Bay, the island is spread over an area of 24.94 sq km and has a population of around 7,000.

The island enjoys a mild climate due to the moderating effects of the surrounding water. Summer temperatures range from 28°C to 19°C, while winter temperatures range from 7°C to –2°C.

Known for its oyster beds and clam shoals, the island is the gateway to the Assateague Island National Seashore and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. These attractions not only offer natural beauty but are also great recreational spots. Visitors can ride on the famous Chincoteague ponies or simply enjoy the Chincoteague Wild Pony Swim.

With serene beaches, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, animals in their natural habitat and hospitable inhabitants, Chincoteague Island is truly a paradise on earth.

Hard to live here full time without travelling a long way for quality groceries, pet supplies, auto parts or repair. Can't obtain a rental car. Having to resort to on-line shopping for clothes, decent cat food, cat toys, litter, etc. There is a pet place right on Main street that has nothing, if open. With the upscale tourism attracted, I was surprised to see only the lowest brand of grocery store. I love the beauty and the people and the fun.

Ok food. Bring a chef, most restaurant food is very much the same. My highlights: Seastar on Main street, Larry's BBQ on Maddox circle seafood, Howard's seafood on Chicken City road Ice cream, island creamery on maddox but there are lots on them

Love the homey small town feel to Chincoteague! The shop owners and eating places are all family friendly and most are not too expensive. The beach at Assateague is easily accessible and beautiful.

GREAT PLACE TO RELAX. Hopefully the town will keep it a nice quite place. Over the last few years the island has become busier and busier.
