Mary Washington House was built before 1772. George Washington had purchased a house in this city for his mother. She spent her last 17 years in this comfortable house. She died in 1789. The Mary Washington house is located near the University, which is also named after her. This house underwent restoration and in 1891, it got opened for the public. The house is a city landmark in the city.

Extended hours: November 27, 28 and December 26, 28 to 30: 1000 to 1600 hours and by prior appointment only.
