Herndon is a town, named after William Lewis Herndon, an American naval explorer. The town is situated in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA. The geographical co-ordinates of the town are 38° 58’ 17” N and 77° 23’ 19” W, with the elevation of 361 ft. The town has a population of 21,378 as per 2008 census. Total area of the town is 10.9 km sq. Being a cool place, Herndon enjoys a minimum temperature of 20°F in January, and in summer it receives a maximum temperature of 90°F in the month of July and August. The average precipitation of the town reaches 4.6 inch. The town receives an average snowfall of 8 inches. The town consists of individuals hailing from White origin (60%25) and the second highest race make up is the Blacks (9.6%25). It is the home to the headquarters for some bigger companies like AOL, Verizon Business, and Airbus North America. It is the home for a wide variety of celebrations year around like Herndon council for the Arts, Friday Night Live, the famous ‘Herndon Festival” which is celebrated for four days with amazing fireworks, and Labor Day jazz festival.
