Warrenton is a town which is located in Fauquier County, Virginia, United States. Warrenton was named after General Joseph Warren because he was a revolutionary head of the war and the city of Warrenton was incorporated in 1810. Warrenton is situated in the Piedmont region of Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Warrenton is the county seat of Fauquier County. The famous Airline Conference Centre is on the boundary of Warrenton.With a population of 6,670, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles according to the census bureau. The geographical coordination of Warrenton is 38.71 degrees to the north of the equator and 77.9 degrees to the west of the prime meridian. The population density was 1,574.8 per square miles.John S. Horner from Warrenton was an Acting Governor and Secretary of Wisconsin. During the Civil War, Colonel John S. Mosby raided the town, later practiced law and made his home in Warrenton.
