Tourist Guide Winchester

The independent city of Winchester is the seat of Frederick County in Virginia, USA. Located in the Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and the Appalachian Mountains, the city covers an area of 24.2 sq km and has a population of around 25,000.

Founded in 1802, Winchester was a base of operations for Confederate invasions into the Northern United States.

Summers are warm with temperatures ranging from 29°C to 17°C, while winter temperatures vary between 4°C and –5°C.

Home to Shenandoah University, the city is a cultural centre and is constantly hosting concerts, plays and other events. The famous Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival held every May attracts tourists from all over the world

The landscape and climate of the city facilitates outdoor activities .The George Washington National Forest, the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive are some of the most beautiful attractions in the city.
