The Anacortes History Museum was founded in 1958 and was established at the Carnegie Library building in 1968. This museum is to preserve and to interpret the Fidalgo and Guemes Islands history. The museum also nurtures the community for spreading the awareness and appreciating its past history and heritage. This museum is a department of Anacortes City. In 1983, it was listed in the National Historic Landmark.
