Lacey city is situated in Thurston County in Washington. It was established as a suburb of Olympia. Originally was known as Woodland after the settlers Catherine Wood and Isaac claimed land in 1853. It was renamed for the developer and the attorney, O.C. Lacey and was officially incorporated in 1966.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.3 square miles, of which 15.9 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water.
The estimated population as per the 2008 was 38,040 people. As of 2009, the population of Lacey is 37,778 people, which is a population growth of 8.75 percent since the 2000 census.
