Tourist Guide Leavenworth
The city of Leavenworth is situated in Chelan County in Washington, USA. Located in the Wenatchee River Valley on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains, the city covers an area of 3.2 sq km and has a population of around 2,500.
As the mountains block the clouds from the west, the city enjoys a dry climate. Summer temperatures range from 30°C to 10°C, while winter temperatures vary between 1°C and –8°C.
The city was transformed from a timber community to a commercial centre after it became the headquarters of the Great North Railroad in the 1900s. When the economy became stagnant, the city was recreated to resemble a Bavarian village.
Surrounded by pristine mountain peaks, the area is a popular recreation point. The diverse landscape consists of cross-country ski trails, mountain climbing areas and wilderness hiking areas. The vibrant community also celebrates Bavarian festivals with traditional costumes.Explore map
