Tourist Guide Pullman
Pullman is home to Washington State University and is known to be the largest city in Whitman County. This city was incorporated in 1886. It was originally named as Three Forks as the three small rivers converge. Later on, it was renamed after the railroad car maker George Pullman.
Pullman sits on four major hills which divide the city to equal quarters. These care the Military Hill, the Pioneer Hill, the College Hill and the Sunnyside Hill. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.0 square miles of land.
In 1886, the population was 250 people. The population of Pullman as per the 2000 census was 24,675. In 2008, it was estimated to 27,150 by the US Census Bureau.
Pullman area is quite dry and clear during most of the year having hot dry summers and cold snowy winters. Pullman gets 18 inches of rainfall and 56 inches of snowfall each year. The month of July is warm with 82 degrees and the month of January is cold with 23 degrees.
