San Juan Islands: Attractions and more...

San Juan is known for its whale watch, especially the orcas (Killer whales) which can be best photographed from the lighthouse in the Lime Kiln Point State Park on the western coast of the island. There is a regular whale tour from the harbours. The Whale Museum also offers you a range of interactive displays and marine artefacts.

A trip to the Roche Harbour village and resort can treat you with a view of beautiful well-maintained yachts, some belonging to the exceptionally rich. If you don’t fancy a ride, try your skills at the popular water sport of sea kayaking on the shores of San Juan.

The San Juan National Historic Park combines the remnants of two old British and American camps which were active at the time of the 1859 ‘Pig’ war; the park now offers a picturesque view of reconstructed buildings, barracks, guardhouses and well-kept gardens.

Also stop by the San Juan Community Theatre with its regular performances and musical events.
