Tourist Guide Wenatchee
Wenatchee is the second largest city in Central Washington. This is the county seat of Chelan County. The name is a Salish word which means “river which comes from canyons”. Wenatchee city shares its name with the Wenatchee River, Wenatchee National Forest and Lake Wenatchee. This city is referred as the Buckle of the Power Belt of the Great Northwest. Wenatchee city was officially incorporated as a city in 1893. It was named for the nearby Wenatchi Indian tribe.
The culture of Wenatchi was a nomadic culture and was also closely bounded with nature. At present, agriculture plays a significant role in the economy and is still a solid base.
The population of the city was around 27,865 in 2000 estimates. 2009 estimation shows the population to be 29,810 and since 2000, it has a growth of 7.58 percent.
