Berkeley Springs is known to be the country’s first spa. The historic springs, known for their warm mineral waters, were frequented by Native Americans and are said to have healing qualities.

The waters flow from the base of the Warm Springs Ridge at a constant temperature of 24°C. The historical springs are now the main attraction at the Berkeley Springs State Park. The town is a popular resort area with tourism as the main industry.
