Bluefield is a town in the southern part of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 11,000 inhabitants is surrounded by the limestone valleys of the East River Mountain.
Owing to its altitude, Bluefield experiences a moderate climate, and it has thus been nicknamed ‘nature’s air-conditioned city’.
July is the warmest month with the maximum average temperature at 26.8°C. During winter, the temperature often drops below the freezing point. It rains throughout the year.
In the nineteenth century, at the peak of the coal mining industry, Bluefield was a prosperous town even referred to as Little New York. But, post the Great Depression, the town failed to earn back to its original glory.
The old route spanning the surrounding mountains has been reconstructed for the spectacular views of the valley for the visitors. Bluefield is also popular for conferences and seminars.
