Tourist Guide Buckhannon
Buckhannon is located in the central region of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 7,500 inhabitants is located along the Buckhannon River.
Though small in size and population, Buckhannon is home to the maximum number of private millionaires in West Virginia.
July is the hottest month of the year with maximum average temperatures at 26°C. During winter, the temperatures can fall to as low as –6°C. Rainfall is spread out over the year with July being the wettest month.
The town and the river get their name from an Indian chief. Though the region had settlers earlier on, it was only in 1770 that the first permanent settlement came up.
The West Virginia Strawberry Festival is held here in the month of May every year. The festival is held to promote the strawberry harvest. Carnivals, exhibits, shows and other events are also a part of the festival.Explore map
