This city is considered to be the cultural centre of North Central West Virginia and hosts some of the renowned cultural festivals every year during the month of September. This festival stared from 1991 and the name of the festival is Black Heritage Festival.
The city got its name from General George Rogers Clark. With fewer rates of crimes this city has have retail, industry and government services. Along with some beautiful sight seeing this city is also renowned for its historic sites. This city is a best place if one wants to spend some time in solitude.
Being the principal city of Clarksburg Micropolitan area, this city has an approximate population of 16,743 as per the 2000 census.
Clarksburg experiences a warm climate during summers and the coldest month of the year is January. Heavy rain falls are expected during the month of May.
