Fairmont is located in the northern part of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 19,000 inhabitants is the county seat of Marion County and has been nicknamed ‘the friendly city’.
During summer, the maximum average temperature is 27°C; July and August are the hottest as well as the rainiest months. During winter, the temperature occasionally drops as low as –6°C with heavy snowfall in December and January.
Until 1843, Middleton and Palatine were two towns on the opposite banks of the river. The two settlements were unified and renamed Fairmont owing to its location on a scenic mountainous terrain.
