Fairmont has a lot of recreation areas. The people here play Billiards, do hiking and climbing, play golf and enjoy going to the state parks.
The popular state parks here are Prickett’s Fort State Park, Valley Falls State Park and Watters Smith Memorial State Park.
There are a lot of historic treasures here, quite a lot of them are preserved in the museums here, some of the museums being Fairmont State College Museum, Marion County Historical Society Museum and West Augusta Historical Society and museum.
Towards the North east around 18 miles away is the place called Morgantown, Elkins is around 39 miles towards the south and Davis is 43 miles towards the Southeast.
There is a very special art show that takes place in this city in the month of October every year, it is called Mountain State Juried Art Exhibition.
