Grafton is located in the Taylor County of West Virginia.
The two most important cemeteries of West Virginia are located in this place. The city is also known for its Mother’s Day shrine. The city was named after John Grafton who was the civil engineer for Baltimore and Ohio road.
With a mixed population of White, Native American, Pacific Islander and some other races this land boasts of having the oldest observances of the Memorial Day in America.
Grafton started prospering by 20th century with the growth being concentrated on the importance of rail road. In the year 1958 the women of this place started parade demanding jobs for men and women and soon a plastic toys industry opened. But again in 1980 Grafton faced a huge economic crisis. Although in the recent years Grafton is emerging as a brighter city for tomorrow.
The estimated population of this place is 5,489 according to 2000 census.
