Tourist Guide Lewisburg
Lewisburg is located in the southern part of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 3,600 inhabitants is the county seat of Greenbrier County.
Summers in Lewisburg are pleasant with the maximum temperature aggregating at 27°C; during winters, the minimum average temperature is –5.5°C. Maximum rainfall is in the months of May and June; snowfall is much higher than the national average.
In 1751, the first known settlement in the area was destroyed by the Indians. Almost 20 years later, another settlement came up and this was fortified. Lewisburg was formally incorporated in 1782.
The surrounding mountains are known for the natural sulphur springs found here. The development of spas and resorts along these geysers led to the rapid prosperity of the city as these attracted a lot of visitors in the hope of miracle cures.
