Morgantown, a city in the Monongalia County, is located in West Virginia, United States. Situated on the banks of the Monongahela River, Morgantown is the largest city in North-Central West Virginia. The city has a total population of around 26,800 inhabitants.
The city has an ideal continental climate, characterised by warm summers and very cold winters. July is the warmest month of the year; January, the coldest. The city receives a fair amount of rainfall throughout the year.
Morgantown is an important historical location as it was the site of the Anglo-French struggle among the English, the French and the Native Americans. The Treaty of Paris placed the town under the English Rule.
Tourism is the most important money-making sector in Morgantown. Arts and music are important cultural elements.
