Princeton is located in the southern part of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 6,500 inhabitants is the administrative centre of Mercer County.
Summers in Princeton are pleasant with the maximum average temperatures of 27°C. January is the coldest month, temperatures often dropping as low as –5°C. Maximum rainfall is during summer especially in the months of May and July.
Initially, Princeton was unaffected from the coal mining and rail building activities because of its location. Development of railways was not too successful until the Virginian Railway was built in 1907 and Princeton was established as one of the headquarters. This railroad proved to be a highly profitable venture and was nicknamed ‘Richest Little Railroad of the World’.
Today, Princeton is a popular stopover for motorists owing to the large number of hotels and restaurants that have come up in this area.
