Ronceverte is a city which is located in Greenbrier County in West Virginia. It is situated on the Greenbrier River. Ronceverte is French name for “Briar Green" and is the Gallic for Greenbrier. The Greenbriers is known as a common vine. The river was discovered by the surveyors who were trapped in a thicket of the painful pines.
As of 2000 census, the population of the city was 1,557. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.4 square miles of which, 1.4 square miles is land and 0.04 square miles is water. Total area covered with water is 1.39 percent.
