Summersville is located in the heart of the state of West Virginia in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 3,200 inhabitants is the chief administrative head of Nicholas County.
Summersville was incorporated in 1828 and named after the judge who had introduced the bill to create Nicholas County. The town’s location at the crossroads of frequently traversed routes played an important role in its development.
Summers here are pleasant with the maximum average temperature at 27°C; during winters, the temperatures often drop to as low as –7°C. July and August sees the maximum rainfall, much higher than the national average.
Summersville Lake, spread over 2,800 acres, is the largest lake in the state and attracts a lot of visitors for recreational as well as adventurous excursions. Steep mountains and rocky cliffs also make up a large part of the terrain.
