Summersville Lake is the largest lakes in West Virginia with sixty miles of shoreline and more than two thousand eight hundred acres of water.

The lake also encompasses a dam and the Gauley River which provides a range of recreational activities for tourists such as white water rafting, fishing, swimming, scuba diving and more.

The nearby areas are ideal for hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. The Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is a renovated battle site of the civil war fought in 1861 and provides insights into the events of the battle and its historical influence on the city.

The surrounding area of the park is ideal for picnicking and hiking. The city is ideal for all kinds of outdoor adventurous pursuits and would be loved by adventure seeking tourists.
