Along with the neighborhood communities, the Fond Du Lac metropolitan area was home to 57,479 people as per the 2000 census. The city also forms the core of the US Census Bureau’s city metropolitan statistical area. This includes the Fond Du Lac County with a population of 97,296 as per the 2000 census and which combined with the Beaver Dam city. Moreover, this city has been named as the safest metropolitan area in US in 2006 edition of City Crime rankings.
