State Street is a pedestrian mall situated in Downtown Madison. This is a seven block bustling thoroughfare that runs between the university and the Capitol Square. It buzzes with activities day and night. It offers an array of coffeehouses, bookstores, ethnic restaurants and also specialty shops and art galleries. This is a unique place in downtown Madison which is alive with daily activities. The road extends from the west corner of the land to Lake Street. This is a street which was a conventional four lane undivided road until 1974. At present, it hosts many shops, bars and restaurants.
