Minocqua is located in Oneida County, Wisconsin, United States. During the summer a large number of seasonal residents come to live in this town. The residents used to call Minocqua as an “Island City”. The portion of the town is situated on an actual island. There are different meanings for the name Minocqua. One of the meanings is “Fair Maiden”. The town has a total area of 168.1 square miles, out of which 150.8 square miles is land and 17.3 square miles is water. The town rises about 1,598 ft above the sea level.Geographically, Minocqua is located at 45050’48”N 89049’50”W. The climate of Minocqua is quite cool in the summer and much warm in winter than the southern regions. It is a forested paradise very close to home.According to the 2000 census the population was 4,859. The population density was 32.2 per square miles.
