Gillette is located in the north-eastern part of the state of Wyoming in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 19,600 inhabitants is the chief administrative centre of Campbell County.
About 200 years ago, this region was a sparsely populated area covered with grasslands and pastures. Though it was one of the last towns to be incorporated in the county, the railroad and its easy connectivity to larger towns led to its rapid development.
The town is often referred to as the ‘Energy Capital of the Nation’ as it is situated in the heart of that region which is a source of large quantities of coal and oil.
Summers in this part of the country are warm; the average maximum temperature is 27°C. In wintertime, the average minimum temperature is –6°C. Maximum snowfall is in the month of March and maximum rainfall in May.
