Kemmerer is located in Lincoln County of Wyoming in United States. This city is known as “ The Fossil Fish Capital of the World” and also as “Gateway of the West”.
John C Fremont, the first inhabitant of the city found underground coal mining in this place. Patrick J Quealy the vice president of the Kemmerer Coal Company named this town after his financial Backer Mahlon S Kammerer. In the year 1950 the coal mining operation was converted into strip mining and it became one of the largest open pit coal mines in the world. But later on this coal mine was sold to Pittsburg & Midway Coal Company.
Whether one is visiting this place for business purpose or to spend vacation, this town offers a charming beauty with deserts, mining areas and some of the best delicacies of western mining town.
The population of this city is 2,651 according to 2000 census.
