Moran is located in the north-western part of the state of Wyoming in the USA. This village with a population of approximately 470 inhabitants is located entirely within the Grand Teton National Park.
The economy of this small village is almost entirely dependent on the national park. Most visitors to the Grand Teton go via Moran. The area around the city is dotted with ranches and farmsteads.
Situated at one end of the Jackson Valley, the village stands along the Jackson Lake and Mount Moran looms over it on one side. The mountain is home to several glaciers and is one of the most difficult summits to climb.
The climate of the region is semi-arid with extreme seasonal variations in temperature. During summer, the temperatures go as high as 34°C, and in winters, they may go as low as –43°C. The region is often covered with snow for six months in a year.
