Thermopolis is located in the central part of the state of Wyoming in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 3,100 inhabitants stands at the foot of the Owl Creek Mountains along the Big Horn River.
The region is known for the numerous hot springs that are found here. The Hot Springs State Park in the vicinity claims to be home to some of the largest geysers in the world.
This land was originally owned by two Indian tribes. They sold the land to the US government so that more people could avail of the healing power of the waters. The signing of this treaty is celebrated every year by the members of the tribe and the village locals together.
The average temperature in January is –7.2°C, but it gets much colder in the night. July is the warmest month with average temperatures at a pleasant 22.2°C. Despite the cold winters, the region is sunny almost all through the year.
