The town of Wheatland is located in Platte County, Southeastern Wyoming, United States. Till 1911 the Platte County named after the North Platte River was a part of Laramie County. The county seat of Wheatland is the largest town in the County. The landscape and recreational areas are easily accessible from the Wheatland. The place is lined with farms and ranches and has country’s largest privately owned irrigation system. Now a residential community, the town of Wheatland was basically an agriculture community in yesteryear.
The town is located at an altitude of 4751 feet and covers an area of 4.2 square miles. The total population of the town in 2003 was 3,476. A total of 28% of the residents in the town have German origins while 15% have Irish origins.
The place has extreme climate. The month of January is the coolest with temperature in the range of 41-16 degree F while the month of July is the hottest with temperature in the range of 89-55 degree F. the Month of May and June see highest precipitation.
