When to visit

One of the best ways to enjoy one’s Wyoming trip is to know when the climate is favorable and compatible with one’s itineraries. The best time to travel to most of the attractions of Wyoming depends on one’s interests. If interested in visiting Yellowstone, for sights or water sports, then the best time to visit is early June through September.

Wyoming is worth visiting from June through August, with special events like rodeos and activities like river rafting, mountain biking, hiking and outdoor activities being the center of attraction.  The third week of June and second week of August tends to be very crowded with people. So one can visit tourist attractions in September, the ideal month when there are fewer crowds.

For those who would like to plan for backpacking or to see the Indian Reservations, then early or late autumn is the best time of the year to visit Wyoming.

The months from November through March are the least popular time, with unpredictable climate and attractions like Yellowstone being closed.

The ideal times are spring and fall, worth visiting with a blend of pleasant weather, fewer crowds, attractive activities and reduced prices. The high season in Wyoming is from mid June to August with low season being from November to March.
