Yellowstone National Park has over 1,000 structures and features of historical significance. National Historical Landmarks include the rustic Old Faithful Inn (with a beautiful log lobby and stone fireplace), the Fort Yellowstone – Mammoth Hot Springs Historic District (the fort currently serves as the park’s administrative headquarters), Obsidian Cliff (a spectacular rock face) and the Lake Village (with its array of historical buildings).
The park has 290 waterfalls, the highest being the Yellowstone River’s Lower Falls which fall from a height of nearly 100 m. A famous natural attraction is the Old Faithful Geyser, which can shoot at least 30,000 litres of boiling water (to a height of 30 m to 55 m) for anywhere between 2–5 minutes.
Other places of interest include the West Thumb Ranger Station (built in 1925) and the Norris Geyser Basin Museum (an original trailside museum built around 1930).
