Arches National Park is located in southern Utah, USA. It lies about 8 km north of the town of Moab, which has a population of nearly 5,000 people. The park, declared a national park in 1971, has the world’s highest concentration of natural arches with over 2,000 of these unique sandstone formations preserved within its boundaries. Natural spires, balanced rocks and monoliths can also be found here.
The region experiences temperatures of nearly 40°C in the summers. The cold winters see the temperature falling to –1°C. The park also receives around 250 mm of rainfall in a year. Ideal visiting periods are in April–May and September–October.
An abundance of fauna can be found in the park, including desert bighorn sheep, red foxes, mule deer, midget-faced rattlesnake, western collared lizard and falcons.
