The City of Rocks was declared a national reserve in the year 1988 and is renowned for its granite rock formations, some of which are almost 2.5 million years old and also for its hundreds of routes for rock climbing.
The visitor centre located in Almo is worth visiting. The City of Rocks National Reserve has a scenic landscape and distinct areas for camping, hiking and picnicking. The park is also great for those interested in photography. The reserve is home to a variety of wildlife and vegetation with about 156 species of birds, juniper forests etc. The Creekside Towers Trail is a haven for those planning for a memorable hiking experience. The Green Mountain, Circle Creek Overlook and Circle Creek Ranch homestead are some of the other interesting spots at the reserve. |
