The Botanic Garden is a historic garden displaying different plants of exotic and native Australian plants.
The garden has been hugely influenced by European architecture which is visible in the nineteenth century buildings inside the garden.
There are various plants on display from palms to endangered cycads and culinary to medicinal herbs.
The garden in historic times served as an institute for plant cultivation, helping many farmers with testing of various grains, fruits and vines.
Glass houses are necessary for tropical plant cultivation and this is the reason a number of glass houses were constructed. The Victoria House was specially made for the Victoria water lily; this plant produced leaves of almost two diameters and is a great attraction for visitors.
Many students and tourists visit the garden to view various rare and exotic plants and have a better understanding of the plant world.
The SA Water Mediterranean Garden is for Mediterranean plants from around the world as these plants are a category in themselves and have unique features making them different from other plants.
