Established in 1971, Bald Rock National Park encompasses a part of the New England Tableland’s granite belt. The topography of this park is dominated by largest granite rock in Australia, Bald Rock.
The vegetation consists of woodlands and eucalypt forests and the park is home to wildlife such as kangaroos and wallabies and over 100 bird species.
Most of the trails through the park highlight its granite landscape such as the Bungoona Walk, which describes the geological features of the area. The Northern Viewing Area Walk passes through the Bookookoorara Creek swamplands, woodlands and Fairy Valley. Rock-climbing and hiking to Bald Rock Summit are extremely popular tourist activities. The Bald Rock Picnic Area is the only established picnic area in this park.
