Established in 1959 and part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, Blue Mountains National Park has a rich legacy as it has been home to the aborigines.
The vegetation consists of woodlands, rainforests and swamps, with over 50 species of plants. The park is home to diverse wildlife such as turkeys, kangaroos, koalas and platypus.
The landscape of the park is dominated by the Blue Mountains, plateaus, gorges and rivers. The adventurous can try canoeing on Nepean River, canyoning on the Grand Canyon Track or hiking to reach Govetts Leap Waterfalls. Do not miss Echo Point with the famous Three Sisters rock formations or the Blue Gum Forest accessible by hiking through Grose River Valley. Lyrebird Dell, an old aboriginal campsite is ideal for picnicking. |
