Established in 2002, Cape Byron Marine Park extends from the Brunswick River to Lennox Head. The topography of the park is dominated by sandy beaches, rocky reefs, small islands and coastal creeks and lakes.
Marine life includes many species of fish, especially dolphins, seabirds and marine plants. The park is home to threatened species such as the humpback whale, sea turtles and grey nurse sharks.
Recreational fishing is permitted within certain zones of the park. A number of tour operators offer boat trips and island visits. Several visitors enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving. Other water activities include swimming and surfing. |
