Mount Grenfell Historic Site commemorates the aboriginal people of this area. The prime highlights of this site are the aboriginal rock paintings.
The rock paintings are of ceremonial significance to the aborigines and express their traditions and myths. In addition to symbols, the paintings display human figures, mammals and birds. In some paintings, layers have been superimposed, creating multicoloured panels. There are three main art sites displaying this handiwork.
This region holds not only of cultural significance but also natural beauty. The Ngiyambaa Walking Trail offers an insight into the natural history of the Cobar area. There are also several picnic areas within the park. |
