Museum and Gallery
Located in the center of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, the Canberra Museum and Gallery is in tune to the beat of the city’s drum. Chronicling Canberra’s history through pictures, relics paintings, sculptures and other artwork, the beautiful museum tells the story of Australia’s capital with its entertaining and informative exhibits. Perhaps best of all, admission is free to the public.
Permanent collection “Reflecting Canberra” has been a museum staple since opening in 2001. The gallery includes five spaces, which feature rotating exhibits that recount the city’s and the country’s history in their own unique ways. Some of the museum’s recent and upcoming exhibits have focused on topics as diverse and wide-ranging as motorbikes, notable Australian political figure King O’Malley, life in rural Australia and paleontology. Exhibits vary in length but often often stay at the museum for at least two months.
