The largest display of prehistoric relics in the entire southern hemisphere, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory’s National Dinosaur Museum is a boasts a beast of a fossil collection. With exhibits that highlight the dinosaurs’ 165-million-year reign on Earth and the subsequent evolution of life on Earth, the museum has been educating tens of thousands of visitors per year on prehistory.
The museum includes fossils of over four dozen dinosaur species, including the always-popular Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Achaeopteryx, Stegosaurus and Brachiosaurus. It also features an extensive collection of mammal, reptile, fish, bird, amphibian and plant remains. In all, the museum sports 23 complete skeletons and more than 300 additional displays that are definitely worth checking out before the human species itself goes extinct.
The museum offers guided tours, runs regular puppet shows and is available to host parties and events upon request.
