The Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG) is located in Canberra and are administered by the Australian Government's Department of the Environment. The gardens are a collection of native Australian flora and promote these. The garden maintains a wide variety of resources for researchers and cultivates native plants. The gardens have an area over 90 hectares on Black Mountain. About 40 hectares of land are currently developed as the Botanic Gardens. The gardens manages plenty amount of plant databases, including their name, origin, etc. The gardens' have a library consisting of books, journals, CD-ROMs and maps which is made available to students on the basis of appointment.

Administered by the national government’s Department of the Environment and Heritage, the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory is the country’s largest collection of native plants. Ever since opening in 1970, the botanic gardens have been a popular tourist attraction amongst fans of Australian wildlife.
The gardens’ expansive and varied collection features more than 5,500 plant species in eight displays. The site’s displays include the Rainforest Gully, Rock Garden, Sydney Region Flora and Eucalypt Lawn, while the gardens also house plants from the Proteaceae and Myrtaceae familes and genus Acacia.
The gardens’ main mission is to study and promote Australia’s native flora. In all, the gardens cover approximately 40 hectares, although an expansion project involving undeveloped but usable land is currently in the planning stages.
