This area is not open to tourists all of the time but only during the warm days of summer. The best thing to enjoy here is the wildlife and also the plantations because some species in this area are unique and not to be found elsewhere. During the last management drive, nine separate zones called as wilderness zones have been identified in this area. This wonder city is home to the Corroborre crab and also to the mountain pygmy which are renowned endangered species. As this is a snow clad region the authorities make sure that snow can be exploited to its economic best. The ski-resorts by the name of Thredbo or the Perisher Blues are considered to be another name for people interested in sight seeing. The railway here is of a special type called as the electric rack railway. There are some interesting caves in some regions of this city and even guided tours are carried on in these areas and are worth a visit.
