Coffs Harbour: Vacations and Tourism

Coffs Harbour is located north of Sydney at a distance of about 570 km in New South Wales. With a population of 70,000, it was named after Captain John Korff and declared a city in 1987.

Coffs harbour enjoys a subtropical climate with the average temperature ranging from 7°C to 19°C in winters and 19°C to27°C in summers. It also receives considerable rainfall.

The original occupants of Coffs Harbour were the members of the Gumbayngirr tribe.
With time, small European settlements were established along the rivers Bellingen and Nambucca. During the Second World War, Coffs Harbour also served as a military base for the Australian operations.

Banana plantations and the tourism industry are the backbone of Coffs Harbour’s economy; this region meets 80% of the demand for bananas in Australia.
