The place got its name from the explorer Charles Sturt in the year 1844 when he came to this place and refers the name of this place in his diary as Broken Hill. Although the name is quiet relevant to this place as there are number of broken hills in this area. Recently the broken hills don’t exist as they have gone with mining industries.
With its magical sunsets and red desert sands and collection of some rarely find unique flowers this place has emerged as one of the favorite tourist destination among the travelers. With this there are also many art galleries that represents the cultural heritage if this town.
