Lismore is a prime regional center in New South Wales’s ‘Northern Rivers’ region.
Lismore stands on the banks of Wilsons River, and Bruxner Highway. Wilsons River is Richmond River’s tributary. Sydney, i.e. state capital lies at the distance of 475 miles on the southern side (by road). Queensland’s capital, i.e. Brisbane is within 2 ½ hour drive towards the north.
‘Central Business District’ of Lismore is situated within a drive of 30 minutes from eastern coast; and drive of 45 minutes with regards to Byron Bay. Ballina, the ‘coastal’ town lies nearby. This region is home to loads of rainforests; debris with respect to which had been called ‘Big Scrub’ once upon a time.
The population as per 2007 census was 48000.
